Once we have the total number of teams that will be advancing to the Sunday Invitational we will post the stratus prize breakdown for this event.
Diamond is a simple, pure PvP ladder. While the previous Duels tournaments have featured block interaction, this will be the first one in the Obsidian Series to be entirely PvP-orientated. Players will be equipped with diamond armor, diamond swords, bows, and golden apples.
Saturday, August 28th starting no earlier than 12:00 EDT | 18:00 CEST. Teams will use in-game commands to register and play a match against another team every 10 minutes. Each team will get 1 point for a match win, and half a point for a draw. Matches will have a time limit of 9 minutes*.
There will be 16 rounds* with two 10 minute breaks for a total of a 3 hour qualifying day approximately ending at 15:00 EDT | 21:00 CEST. As the day progresses teams will be paired against teams with a similar point total with a bias against rematches. After the qualifying matches have concluded, we will take some number of teams (depending on the number of entrants) with the highest point totals for the bracket stage on Sunday.
The number of teams advancing to the invitationals will depend on how many teams play in the qualifiers. With a hard cap of 32 teams, the number of teams advancing will be calculated by taking the largest power of 2 strictly less than half the total number of teams. For instance, if 126 total teams register we will take the top 32 teams for the invitational.
*Match time limit and number of rounds may be subject to change after further testing
