Your Feedback Etiquette

English
-------

When giving feedback, we wish for you to follow the following rules to ensure a positive environment for both you and the original poster's submission to the Stratus Network.

1. Don't just always state negatives - state positives People usually spend a lot of time on maps and they become their pet project. Everyone comes from different circles and may be new at their craft, and are learning- don't just tell them what they did wrong, but tell them what they did right so they can keep it up with their next submission. Stating just negatives reduces the mapmaker's confidence and makes them less likely to submit maps when the community gives harsh backlash to the submission. Treat all map submissions with care.

2. If a mapmaker responds to your feedback - respond back Map making is a tedious process. It's all about if they can improve or not, and keeping your voiced concerns consistent is key when it comes to responding to those who are building for Stratus. While not required, it is proper etiquette to have a constructive conversation until the feedback is responded to or resolved.

3. Speak for yourself, don't speak for the whole server Opinions will always be different and maps are very subjective when it comes to enjoyment. You must not have your opinion represent that of Stratus: always use "I" or "myself" when it comes to judging a map, and not have your opinion seem that of a collective. e.g "We all think this map sucks" would be unkind - say "I think this map needs improvement, here's why".

4. Translate map posts or responses Everyone speaks different languages here on Stratus, and an original post/reply may not be completely clear. You are encouraged to help the original poster translate posts that are only in Spanish, German, etc. into English so other users can respond, and so that it'd be better than just running it through a translator and losing all of the details. Keep in mind this is a community initiative and that we welcome all backgrounds of mapmakers.

5. Be specific, clear, and concise Try to speak clearly and openly so you are easy to understand, and so that your feedback doesn't get lost. You should try to only state the details about the map, and stay on topic for what is only about the map. You must say specifically what is wrong about the map, and not generalize it all.

Keep in mind these are recommendations, and not required- but we want to make the map submission process as kind and easy as we can as to not make the poster feel attacked.
