Stratus Status #7, 2018-11-19

Hello everyone! Welcome to the seventh issue of Stratus Status, the official biweekly newsletter. Are you interested in recent network changes and what the community has been up to? If so, read on to stay up-to-date about all things Stratus!

Fullmetal Conquest

Yesterday, after three matches on Avenue, Little China and Nartica, men defeated The Dojo Dogos, and thus became the winners of Stratus' 7th event, Fullmetal Conquest. On their road to victory, men only conceded three maps in the whole tournament. Congratulations! If you missed the match, you can find the video of the final round's stream here.

Operation Ares Q&A

Last Saturday, after Fullmetal Conquest's matches, a Q&A session was hosted to answer your questions about operation Ares. Questions such as why the new plugins will mostly be closed source were answered at the stream. However, if you missed it and don't want to spend a lot of time watching it, Crazy_  made a recap of the questions, check out his forum post.

New Maps

The Rotation update 17.1 was released last Saturday. Keep in mind this isn't the rotation update being publicly discussed in the forums. Check out mitchiii 's forum post here.

Christmas Map Submissions

The map development team is looking for new christmas-themed maps! If you have a map in our repository and you wish to create a Chtistmas version, make sure you check out mitchiii 's post out. You have time until the 10th of December!

Staff News

We are happy to announce that map developer applications are now open! They will stay open until the 1st of December. Read more on the announcement thread.

Biweekly Question

Last month we had the Halloween event, and the Christmas event is just around the corner. What kind of reoccurring events would you like Stratus to host for the community? It doesnt have to be minecraft related. Let us know!

That's all for this time!

Thanks for reading this week's issue. See you all next time!

nice stratusnetwork!

pls add a progresss update of operation ares

Stratus rots feature a lot of really nice maps, but there are definitely majorities. TNT and Rage are very limited, though not equally. CP/KoTH and TDM are also minorities. Now, this is fair in the sense that these smaller communities do have some maps in the rot, but they aren't equal, nor should they be. Events on Stratus that involve things that only small parts of the community enjoy are understandably minimal. However with the influx of new players, it's only logical to have occurring events of Stratus and OCNs semi-lost gamemodes. Specifics aside, if the gamemodes that had very little representation were played more, in an event type fashion, it also makes sure that all players have compromise. Unpopular gamemodes with a small niche could get a day where they can enjoy what they enjoy, and bring more new faces into that niche. That also makes it so that the great rots are still mostly played, with few breaks for events.
