Hello everyone! Welcome to the eighteenth issue of Stratus Status, the official biweekly newsletter. Are you interested in recent network changes and what the community has been up to? If so, read on to get up-to-date about all things Stratus!

Ranked All-Stars

Last Saturday, the Stratus Ranked team hosted an All-Star event, where the 20 Ranked players with the highest score competed against each other in a series of 5v5 matches. Congratulations to the winners! You can check out the announcement thread here. Another event like this one will be hosted soon, so make sure you join the Ranked Discord to get a chance to compete!

Tournament News

Stratus' 4th mini-event, Emperor of the Wool is over. Congratulations to PERDON NO!!!QUE HACES??? for winning! Unlike most rounds in the semifinals, they proclaimed themselves victors after winning the only two matches that were played in the round.

The event staff team have also released their plans to hold two tournaments during late spring/summer season, as well as more frequent mini-events to bridge the gap between tournaments. For more information on the next tournament such as team and roster sizes, read ttucave 's post here.

Development News

During the past two weeks, the Operation Ares plugins received a significant number of updates, out of which these are the most relevant:

  • The /freeze command (and API) were added

  • UHC scatter is now more even, players are properly frozen and is less laggy

  • Mob spawn rate is now configurable

  • Kills and team kills in UHC are now displayed on the scoreboard, as well as the time to the next border radius

  • Hunger can now be disabled

  • Bleeding Sweets scenario was added to UHC

  • Lightning strike when a player dies was implemented as a config option

Aside from that, ALM  is now working on the backend API, which will form the basis of the new website and connect all the pieces together. awesomelemonade  has been working on Blitz, and will work on CTF for a bit. The documentation for Operation Ares has also received significant updates by Matic0B  and Shawnn .

Finally, as for our current plugins, Anax now uses permissions instead of a whitelist to be able to join. This means that donors will automatically have those permissions, and won't need to ask to get whitelisted.

New Maps

Over the past 2 weeks, the following maps were added to the public servers:

Additionally, the server rotations were updated once again in Rotation Update #21. You can provide your thoughts or any feedback you have in Valky 's rotation discussion thread.

Biweekly Question

For this issue, we want to ask: which tournament maps do you like playing the most? We'd appreciate if they aren't maps which have been overplayed to death.

That's all for this time!

Thanks for reading this week's issue. See you all next time!
